The estate of John J. O’Keefe is seeking justice for his wrongful death

The suit alleges Karen Read struck John O’Keefe with her vehicle while drunk after being overserved by two Canton bars in the hours preceding his death. Read then concocted a false conspiracy narrative in the wake of his death that has compounded the suffering of O’Keefe’s survivors. As a result of Read’s negligence, O’Keefe’s niece and nephew lost a guardian who had parented them for years after their parents passed away. The suit further alleges that Read inflicted emotional distress on O’Keefe’s 14-year-old niece by waking her up and informing her that Read had hit her uncle or that a snow plow hit her uncle, and then leaving the young niece home alone. Knowing how vulnerable O’Keefe’s niece was, Read’s conduct “was extreme and outrageous and beyond the bounds of decency and was utterly intolerable.” The estate of John O’Keefe, on behalf of his parents who are now caring for the niece and nephew, seeks justice and accountability.
