During Motorcycle Safety Month, we are highlighting statistics and studies that informs riders and potential riders about motorcycle safety. According to the National Safety Council, 14% of traffic deaths involve a motorcycle, even though motorcycles only make up 3% of all registered vehicles. Studies show that motorcyclists who wear a helmet reduce their risk of death by 37% to 42%. Unhelmeted riders are three times as likely than helmeted riders to helmets to sustain a traumatic brain injury. Remember to drive safe.
Trauma to the face often involves dental injury, including a tooth that has been chipped, dislodged or knocked out. It is especially important to take quick action (within 30 minutes) for a tooth that has been knocked out (avulsed) for the best results.
Labor can be divided into three stages. The final stage of labor, delivery of the placenta, is a necessary part of the labor process. Complications of a retained placenta include life-threatening bleeding or infection. These may require a blood transfusion, hysterectomy, or removal of the uterus, and/or surgery.
